J.D. Powers North American Airport Satisfaction Study
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has ranked highest in customer satisfaction among medium-sized airports in North America, according to the J.D. Powers 2017 North American Airport Satisfaction study of almost 35,000 travelers. The
J.D. Power North American Airport Satisfaction Study measures satisfaction among customers in medium, large and mega airports across the United States by examining six factors: terminal facilities; airport accessibility; security check; baggage claim; check-in/baggage check; and food, beverage and retail amenities.
Sacramento International Airport ranked highest in the factors of security check and terminal facilities. The airport scored higher in every factor compared to 2015.
Silver Beacon Spotlight Award for Agency Greenhouse Gas Reductions
Institute for Local Government (ILG) awarded Sacramento County the Silver Beacon Spotlight Award for Agency Greenhouse Gas Reductions for a 9.3 percent reduction. The reduction was due to retrofitting County facilities to be more energy efficient; construction of new buildings to LEED standards; increase of on-site renewable energy systems; LED lighting on county streets and parking lots; greener fleet; and utility energy intensity improvement. Government Fleet Magazine Hall of Famer Keith Leech
Government Fleet magazine inducted Sacramento County’s Fleet Division Chief, Keith Leech into the Public Fleet Hall of Fame. The award, co-produced with the American Public Works Association (APWA) and sponsored by the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), recognizes fleet leaders and pioneers who have significantly contributed to the profession. To be inducted, recipients must have at least 20 years of experience in the fleet industry.

Sacramento County Wins Inaugural Government Experience Award
The Center for Digital Government announced Sacramento County as 4th place winner of its inaugural
Government Experience Awards, which honors worthy U.S. governments who are offering citizens more integrated, anticipatory and personalized electronic services. The award recognizes the achievements and best practices of Sacramento County that have improved the experience of how citizen services are delivered.
Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award
The Sacramento County Department of General Services’ Contract & Purchasing Services Division received their thirteenth National Purchasing Institute’s, 2017 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. The award is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes. The criterion is modified each year to reflect changes in the governmental procurement profession to confirm consummate professionalism of staff, the best level of customer service, and continually improvement of processes and business operations. The ceremony for the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award will be hosted in October 2017.
Active Design Guidelines & Collaboration National Planning Award of Merit
Sacramento County is the recipient of an Award of Merit in the Best Practices category from the American Planning Association & National Association of County Planners for the Sacramento County Active Design Guidelines & Collaboration. The award recognizes the County as a national pioneer in Public Health & Planning by having successfully codified health in its Zoning Code and Design Guidelines. The County worked with a volunteer cross-sector collaborative health team called
Design 4 Active Sacramento (D4AS), who are working across the county, region, state and nationally to transform built environments into healthier communities. Planning and building communities that integrate health and active design enables residents to incorporate healthy activities into their daily lives and contributes to chronic disease reduction. Active Design applies four principles: 1. Connectivity and accessibility for walkable and bikeable streets; 2. Mixed land uses with walkable destinations; 3.Increased landscape and urban forest; and 4. Safety.

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has been awarded first place in 2017 Concessions Awards for medium-sized airports in the prestigious annual competition sponsored by
Airport Council International-North America. Concessions are a mix of local, regional and national concepts that offer locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, giving customers the opportunity to relax and enjoy the Farm to Table capitol of the world.
