To be recycled, trees must be free of tinsel, lights, decorations, nails and stands. Flocked trees will be accepted, but cannot be recycled and will go to the landfill. Please observe COVID-19 health and safety requirements (e.g. social distancing and wearing a face covering) at participating locations.
Hours and locations of participating drop off locations are:

- Kiefer Landfill, 12701 Kiefer Boulevard, Sloughhouse, CA
- January 8 - 9, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

- North Area Recovery Station, 4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA
- January 8 - 9, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- *Facility fees will apply for loads of six or more trees.
- Dan Russell Rodeo Arena, Rodeo Park, end of Stafford Street, Folsom, CA
- January 8, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

*Loads in excess of five trees will only be accepted at Elder Creek Recovery & Transfer, Dan Russell Rodeo Arena, Kiefer Landfill, and the North Area Recovery Station. Facility fees may apply.
County residents can also recycle their live holiday tree (all decorations removed) by cutting it up and placing it in the curbside green waste cart. Please make sure the lid will close. The cart will be emptied on your regular green waste collection day. Flocked trees can be cut up and placed in the garbage cart for curbside collection. Please do not put holiday trees on curbs or roadsides!
