There is an exciting new opportunity for you to help your community. The Sacramento County Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB) is looking for new board members.
The members of PHAB make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors about health issues impacting Sacramento County. These recommendations help influence health-related decisions made by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. The members of PHAB bring awareness to different issues in diverse communities throughout the county. PHAB also helps coordinate forums on public health and primary care issues in the county.
PHAB members help oversee the health-related committees addressing multiple health-related concerns in Sacramento County. They also advocate for health policies. If there are public health issues in your community that you want to address, consider joining PHAB. You can make a difference where you live by working with PHAB.
Current PHAB members hope to find individuals who have an interest in how public health impacts day-to-day lives and who are ready to help identify public health needs where they live and address public health needs for minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, the county's youth, disadvantaged communities, among anyone else who needs representation. PHAB is looking for members from across all areas of Sacramento County.
“Being a member of the Public Health Advisory Board allows you to make a positive impact in the County, to make a difference in helping to improve the health and lives of the people who live here," said PHAB chair Dr. Farla Kaufman.
PHAB members are champions for change and give a voice to the diverse groups of people who make up Sacramento County. All viewpoints and new opinions are welcome. By joining, you could make a difference in your community.
Each person who is part of PHAB will be appointed to a three-year term and can apply for a second term. Applications and additional information can be found here.
