Due to the strong, persistent wind, Regional Parks is keeping all parks within its system closed for the rest of the day.
The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks is once again preparing for the impacts of the upcoming storm. On Tuesday, March 14, Regional Parks will delay the opening of all parks within its system until noon.
This delayed opening of all parks is necessary due to anticipated wind gusts of at least 50 mph. With soil still saturated from prior storms, these high gusts have the potential to bring down a large number of trees.
The following parks have been closed since Thursday, March 8, and will remain closed until further notice.
- Discovery Park
- Northgate
- Howe River Access
- Watt River Access
- Gristmill Gravel Bar
- Sailor Bar boat launch
Depending on storm activity and damage, additional parks may stay closed.
The American River Multi-Use and Dry Creek Parkway trails will also be closed during this time, so bicycle commuters are urged to find alternative routes.
Ancil Hoffman Golf Course will be closed until noon, but both Cherry Island and Mather Golf Courses will stay open during their normal business hours for indoor golf simulators.
Rangers continue to alert people in the affected areas so that they are aware of the anticipated hazards.
