3/8/2022 Update:
The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks is preparing for the impacts of the upcoming storms. All parks within the Regional Parks System will close on Thursday, March 9 as regularly scheduled and will not re-open until Friday, March 10 at noon.
This delayed opening of all parks is necessary due to anticipated wind gusts of up to 50 mph. With soil still saturated from prior storms, these high gusts have the potential to bring down a large number of trees.
Depending on storm activity and damage and river forecasting, some parks may remain closed past noon on Friday.
The American River Multi-Use and Dry Creek Parkway trails will also be closed during this time, so bicycle commuters are urged to find alternative routes.
Ancil Hoffman Golf Course will be closed, but both Cherry Island and Mather Golf Courses will stay open during their normal business hours.
Rangers and maintenance teams have begun to alert people in the affected areas so that they are aware of the anticipated hazards.
