Sacramento County is continuing development of a
plan for jail population reduction measures that has been submitted to Class Counsel in regards to the
Mays Consent Decree. The Mays Consent Decree requires a remedial plan in which the County focuses on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, mental health care and medical care, among other issues.
The Jail Population Reduction Plan will be discussed at a meeting of the County's Board of Supervisors at 2 p.m., Dec. 7, 2022.
The County encourages continued community feedback through the
Public Safety and Justice Agency (PSJA) in areas related to the Mays Consent Decree and criminal justice reforms in general. The feedback does not have to be limited to jail population reduction measures.
Please note that feedback received through the PSJA is advisory to the agency and is not considered a public comment to the Board of Supervisors.
