Sacramento County’s draft Communitywide Climate Action Plan (CAP), which addresses greenhouse gas reductions and climate change adaptation, is now
available for public review.
An online workshop on the draft CAP will take place via Zoom at the Sacramento County Environmental Commission (SEC) meeting on Monday, March 15, at 6 p.m. The workshop will be an opportunity for the public and the SEC to provide feedback on the draft CAP.
In addition to providing feedback at the SEC workshop, members of the public may submit written comments on the draft CAP to
ClimateActionPlan@saccounty.net. Comments are due by April 9, 2021.
Climate change is expected to affect the region in a variety of ways: Hotter temperatures and more extreme heat events; increased wildfire risks; unpredictable rainfall and flooding; reduced snowpack and impacts to the water supply, among others. The CAP will serve as a policy and technical document that determines greenhouse gas reduction targets and proposes measures to reach those reductions, as well as adaptation measures.
The County's Office of Planning and Environmental Review will amend the draft based on public feedback and will present it to the Board of Supervisors for adoption this summer.
