Join
Bradshaw Animal Shelter for a special holiday adoption event, "Miracle on Bradshaw Road," on Sunday, December 17 at 3839 Bradshaw Rd in Sacramento. To help every dog and cat find a loving home for the holidays, the shelter will extend its hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with all adoption fees waived.
Adoptions include each pet's spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, and a 1-year license for Sacramento County residents. Prospective pet parents can expect their new furry friends to come home with a festive holiday stocking filled with toys and treats.
Adding to the excitement, a holiday marketplace at the shelter will feature local vendors offering pet-related goodies, supplies, apparel, and more.

What is the adoption process? Step 1: Select the pets to meet. Adoptions are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so individuals with their hearts set on one specific pet are advised to arrive before the shelter opens to be the first in line. Otherwise, the public may walk through the shelter to decide which pet they would like to meet.
Step 2: Fill out an application: Prior to meeting any pets, please fill out a short application (
dog or
cat). This can be done at home and printed out, or done in person at the shelter.
Step 3: Meet and greet and adoption counseling. Then, it's time to meet! Prospective adopters are encouraged to bring their entire family, including any children, to make sure the pet is a good match for everyone in the home. The shelter's adoption team will provide adoption counseling during this time and go over the pet's history, how to help the pet acclimate to a new home, and address any questions or concerns.
Step 4: Dog meet and greets. If adopters have another dog at home that they would like to introduce to a new animal before adopting, a dog meet-and-greet can be facilitated at this time. Shelter staff recommend bringing at least two adults: one to stay outside or in a climate-controlled vehicle with the existing pet at first, while the other goes inside to meet the new adoptable pet. After the initial human meet-and-greet, staff will assist with a four-legged introduction.
Step 5: Adoption. Then, it's time to make it official and take the new pet home!
Don't miss this opportunity to make the season brighter for both pets and families. Join the Miracle on Bradshaw Road and give a loving home to a deserving pet this Sunday.
