The Board of Supervisors at its Sept. 28 meeting concurred with the County Executive’s appointment of Ethan Dye as Director of Human Assistance, effective Oct. 10.
Dye has been serving as the Acting Director of Human Assistance since Dec. 6, 2020.
“Mr. Dye has continued to demonstrate his outstanding, compassionate leadership for the past 10 months while serving as Acting Director,” said Bruce Wagstaff, Deputy County Executive for Social Services. “Through his work, he has bolstered his commitment to the Department’s mission, vision and values.”
Dye has worked for the
County Department of Human Assistance since 2005 and has more than 22 years of experience working as a public servant. Prior to his appointment to the Acting Director, he held the following Department positions: Deputy Director Human Services, Human Services Division Manager, Human Services Program Manager, Human Services Program Specialist, Eligibility Specialist and Human Services Specialist.
Prior to his employment with the Department of Human Assistance, he worked in various public service positons, including as a Deputy Sheriff for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department as well as for the Army National Guard and the United States Army. Dye is a United States Veteran.
Dye possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration as well as a Leadership Development Program Certificate. In addition to his experience and education, he also has extensive experience representing the County’s Department of Human Assistance with local and state associations, including the following: serving as an Executive Committee Member for the Criminal Justice Cabinet, serving as a Child Care Committee Co-Chair and as a member of the Board of Directors for the County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA), and serving as regional representative for a CalSAWS Project Steering Committee.
