Regional Parks and the Cosumnes River Preserve Volunteer Naturalists invite nature lovers, bat enthusiasts, and people who like unique adventures to see a sunset bat fly-out while on the Cosumnes River on Saturday, July 20. Participants will have the uncommon perspective of being on the water under the Franklin-Thornton Bridge for this first of its kind event.
Volunteer Naturalists will meet participants an hour before sunset, around 7:30 p.m., in the Cosumnes River Preserve Parking lot (13501 Franklin Blvd. Galt, CA 95632) for departure on the water. Participants are required to bring their own canoe, row boat or kayak, oars or paddles, and life jackets. Motorized watercrafts are not allowed.
The excursion will last about two hours. Bring drinking water, a snack, and insect repellent. Head lamps are recommended. Always be prepared for weather changes so make sure you have appropriate clothing. It is required that you bring your own boat, paddle and wear a life jacket at all times.
