Have you ever driven by an abandoned mattress or broken refrigerator? A hazard to people and wildlife, these roadside dump sites are illegal and dangerous. If you see illegal dumping, please call 311 to report the violation. By reporting specific details about the illegal dumping you may be eligible for a *$250 reward, if your tip leads to a citation and/or arrest.
“Trash on the side of the road is unsightly and drives down property values,” said County Executive Bradley J. Hudson. “Call 311 about junk piles, whether in your neighborhood or on the American River Parkway; let us know and we’ll get them cleaned up.”
When you call:
Report the physical description of the dumper: Gender, ethnicity, age, hair color, clothing, etc.
Report the vehicle’s license plate number, color, make and model
Report incident time and date, location and type of materials
Report any other identifying or incriminating evidence
If you’re inside the unincorporated County area, simply call 311; if you’re calling from other areas, call 916-875-4311. You can also report illegal dumping on the Sac County 311 Connect website or with the handy Sac County 311 Connect smart phone app, downloadable from Google play and the iPhone App Store.
Illegal dumping signs will be posted where frequent dumping has occurred, and Code Enforcement Officers will investigate, help to track down and prosecute assailants.
To get rid of junk and rubbish from your home, customers of the County’s Waste Management and Recycling Department, can schedule an annual bulky item pick-up online or call 916-875-5555. Additional pick-ups can be requested for a nominal fee of $25 each.
*Reward Program: Prosecution and a final judgment must occur prior to any reward issuance. County employees and their family members are not eligible for the reward.
