On Friday, June 17, more than 100 students from schools across Sacramento County shadowed professionals from various criminal justice agencies to learn about the different professions within the system.
Based on the area of interest, students were paired with prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, probation officers, law enforcement officers, investigators and judges to get a first-hand look at the different roles within criminal justice process. District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert and Crime Lab Director Jill Spriggs also gave a presentation on crimes scene investigation (CSI), evidence collection, and forensic science used to solve crimes.
“Job shadowing and getting a first-hand view of what we do are practical ways for students to narrow down their career interests and make a plan for their future,” said District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert. “This program allows students to talk with professionals working in the criminal justice system and gain an understanding of the diverse career opportunities within the field.”
”We are privileged to host local high school students for a day of job shadowing,” said Lee Seale, Chief Probation Officer. “It is fun to see the passion and excitement on their faces as they discover their career path.”
