The American River Parkway Spring Clean-Up scheduled for Saturday, April 9, has been cancelled
due to the increased water flows, which will be unsafe for volunteers.
Join in the 26th Annual Creek Week event to help the countywide effort to clean-up and maintain our beautiful creeks Saturday, April 9 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at multiple locations throughout the area.
The clean-up day consists of removing trash and debris, followed by a celebration at the Carmichael Park location from noon until 2:00 p.m. The reward for your hard work includes a free lunch and T-shirt for volunteers along with exhibits, entertainment and contests that are guaranteed to be fun for all ages to enjoy.
Last year during Creek Week, more than 1,800 volunteers worked at 80 different clean-up sites where nearly 16 tons of garbage was removed. Along with the garbage removal, volunteers were kind enough to donate 860 pounds of clothing for the recycling drive.
Creek Week volunteer online registration began on March 1 and will remain open until April 1. If you are under the age of 18 and would like to volunteer, you need an adult present with you and small children must be closely monitored by an adult at all times.
What to bring to the Creek Week Cleanup:
- Your own water and snacks in re-usable containers
- Your own work gloves, protective gear is not provided
- A bucket or re-useable shopping bags to collect trash
- Be sure to dress appropriately by wearing closed-toe shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirts
- Clothing to recycle (optional)
