The Board of Supervisors authorized the County Executive to appoint Nancy Newton as the Assistant County Executive effective Dec. 4, 2016.
"Ms. Newton is a highly qualified candidate who will support the County’s commitment to economic responsibility and regional prosperity,” said Board Chair Roberta MacGlashan, District 4 Supervisor.
Ms. Newton began her municipal career as the Deputy Director for the Clackamas County, Oregon’s Commission on Children and Families in 2000. She was promoted to the Clackamas County Assistant to the County Executive in 2004. In 2010, she was promoted to Deputy County Administrator and later served as the Interim County Administrator for several months.
Ms. Newton holds an Executive Master of Public Administration degree from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Organization Leadership from George Fox University in Newburg, Oregon.
“Ms. Newton brings the right set of skills and experience to enhance our executive team,” said County Executive Nav Gill.
The position has been vacant since May when the previous Assistant County Executive, Nav Gill, was promoted to County Executive.
