The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved a development agreement on July 12, 2016, to support construction of building and site improvements for an Amazon product fulfillment center at Metro Air Park.
The 855,000-square-foot customer fulfillment center will create more than 1,000 full-time hourly jobs, with as many as an additional 500 during peak retail seasons. The site, located near the Sacramento International Airport, will be Amazon’s 10th fulfillment center in California.
“We’re thrilled that Amazon has chosen Sacramento County as the site for its newest fulfillment center in California,” said District 1 Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna. “The increase in jobs is welcome news for Sacramento residents, and exemplifies our pursuit of private sector investment.”
The County’s Office of
Economic Development and Marketing worked diligently with multiple County and outside departments to streamline and expedite the building permits for the fulfillment center.
“The high level of professionalism and approach to customer service from the staff at Sacramento County was second to none,” said Jason Quintel, Senior Vice President, Western Region, Seefried Industrial Properties. “We enjoyed working with the staff, as they went above and beyond our expectations in guiding this process to a successful completion.”
“The arrival of Amazon’s fulfillment center in Sacramento is a welcome addition to the area,” said Sacramento County Executive Nav Gill. “Amazon’s decision to invest in the region represents real progress as our community continues to grow.”
Officials anticipate the fulfillment center to be operational by summer 2017.
