The last two locations of Sacramento County’s Project Roomkey, which were originally slated to have staggered ramp downs of April 15th and May 30th, are being extended to ensure safe and stable exits for participants. DHA will be extending the leases with the Vagabond to 6/30/22 and the Comfort Inn to 8/31/22. This extension will also allow for the continued access to isolation units for unsheltered persons if they contract the virus.
There are currently 230 guests still living in these two locations and County DHA staff and Rehousing Navigation and Flexible Housing Fund staff are actively working the PRK sites with the participants to stay active with the housing process. Flexible funds will pay for move-in costs, eviction arrears and short-term subsidies of rental assistance. These strategies, as well as the recent investment in Housing and Landlord Engagement, along with the work of the local housing providers will greatly increase successful housing placements.
