Teaming up with SMUD, select waste management collection sites in the region will accept “bare” Christmas trees (free of all tinsel, lights, tree stands and nails) at no charge on Saturday, Jan. 5. Some will take trees on other days. Flocked trees will also be accepted.
Bring your tree to the SMUD Corporation Yard at 6100 Folsom Blvd. on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and they will mulch it for free.
Limit five trees per vehicle*.
