Sacramento County issued a Proclamation of Local State of Emergency for Winter Storms on Wednesday, March 8. This is the second such declaration this winter due to storm events.

The Board of Supervisors will ratify the proclamation within seven days of the proclamation at the Tuesday, March 14 Board meeting.

Sacramento County is expecting an atmospheric river beginning Thursday, March 9 that may result in significant transportation impacts, rising creek and river levels, downed trees, damage to infrastructure and localized flooding.

Sacramento County’s Office of Emergency Services is tasked with collecting damage estimates from County departments, cities within its jurisdiction and special districts in the event of damage.

The County Executive will return to the Board of Supervisors at least every sixty days with a recommendation to continue or terminate the local emergency.

Residents and businesses within the County can call:
  • 3-1-1 to report downed trees or flooded roads
  • 1-888–742-7683 or 9-1-1 to report downed power lines
  • 2-1-1 or 1-916-498-1000 for available shelter and resources

For up-to-date information on road closures, flooding, evacuation and shelters, visit the Emergency Events website.
