Now, the smart phone based company Uber will be able to pick up and drop off customers at Sacramento International Airport (SMF). The airport and Uber have signed an agreement to allow the Transportation Network Company (TNC) to operate legally at SMF. The airport does not have agreements with other TNCs, but the permit is available to all companies willing to sign an agreement.
The operating permit applies to all UberX drivers.
“This agreement gives customers an additional choice for ground transportation services at Sacramento International Airport,” said Director of Airports John Wheat. “Customers have requested this service, which now joins our complement of onsite taxicabs, shuttles, buses and limousine services.”
Uber Sacramento General Manager Jay Gierak said, “Last week, Uber celebrated one million rides with riders and drivers in Sacramento, and this week the celebration continues as the Sacramento International Airport opens its doors to Uber.
