In response to Sacramento County Assessor Kathleen Kelleher’s retirement, effective May 13, the Board of Supervisors provided a selection procedure to appoint a successor to the Office of the Assessor for the unexpired term. The appointment term will be in effect through the June 2018 election for the Assessor and will hold the office until Monday, January 7, 2019.
For the selection procedure, recruitment and application review will be conducted using the minimum qualifications for the position established by statute and County ordinance. Those meeting qualifications will be scheduled for open session interviews by the Board of Supervisors and application packets will be made available for public review per the Brown Act.
The Assessor is a Sacramento County elected official and is responsible for locating all taxable property in the County, assessing the value, identifying the owner, and publishing annual and supplemental rolls. The Assessor’s office has five divisions: Real Property Valuation; Business and Personal Valuation; Assessment Standards; Technical Services; and Systems and Development.
“As an Office, our mission has been to make fair and accurate property tax assessments and to be a resource to the community for property information in Sacramento County,” said Kathleen Kelleher, Sacramento County Assessor.
Ms. Kelleher became the Sacramento County Assessor on January 3, 2011, following the June 2010 election.
