Sacramento County residents have more options for free spay/neuter services for their dogs and cats. The County has teamed up with the Sacramento SPCA and allocated $10,000 to support the Sacramento SPCA’s spay and neuter clinic for dogs and $30,000 to support spay/neuter services for cats.
“Spaying and neutering animals is vital in reducing the numbers of unwanted animals filling our local shelters,” said Dave Dickinson, director of the
Sacramento County Bradshaw Animal Shelter. “The collective efforts of municipal and non-profit organizations such as this will reduce those numbers significantly and improve the quality of life for the people and animals throughout Sacramento.”

Sacramento County residents are encouraged to contact the Sacramento SPCA as soon as possible, as the services will be provided while funding lasts. There are no co-payments or income restrictions.
"It's wonderful to see Sacramento County supporting spay/neuter efforts that will ultimately help not only hundreds of animals, but also local shelters that are overburdened with homeless animals," said Rick Johnson, CEO of the Sacramento SPCA. "This funding will save countless lives through spay/neuter of at-risk animal populations."
The Sacramento SPCA also offers low-cost spay and neuter services. Additionally, they provide low-cost vaccination clinics on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
