The Bradshaw Animal Shelter again teams up for the Empty Our Shelters Project, October 17-19. For this one weekend, pet adoptions are just $20. A goal of adopting 500 animals to loving homes has been challenged for this intensive effort by Sacramento County, Yolo County, Sacramento SPCA, City of Sacramento and Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary.
Last year, our area shelters found 526 animals permanent homes in three days and were nationally recognized by the ASPCA. The County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter stood out with the most adoptions – 179! With unending desire to help animals and a good dose of competitive spirit, the Bradshaw Shelter hopes the community will once again come together to be a part of something big by helping to end homelessness for shelter animals.
“If you have been considering the addition of a pet to your family, now, is the time. This is a big weekend for the community to help us get our animals into the permanent homes they deserve,” said Dave Dickinson, Director of Sacramento County Department of Animal Care and Regulation.
Regular adoption fees can range from $81 to $147. In addition to the discount, qualified new pet owners will also receive the following benefits:
• Spay/neuter surgery
• Health vaccinations
• Rabies vaccinations
• Microchip ID (with lifetime registration)
• 1 year animal license (County adopters)
• Free vet exam voucher
• Pet care information packet
• Disease testing (on most adult cats)
• $5 coupon for Hill’s Science Diet pet food
Available pets can be viewed online at www.SacCountyShelter.net.
The Empty Our Shelters Project is in coordination with the ASPCA’s Mega Match-a-Thon initiative, which provided grants to Sacramento area animal shelters, as well as shelters throughout the U.S. to increase pet adoptions in record numbers.
The Bradshaw Animal Shelter is calling on the Sacramento community to #EmptySacShelters starting Friday, October 17, 18 and 19. Be a part of it!
