SACRAMENTO - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun implementing new, stronger screening procedures for carry-on items at airports nationwide in an effort to raise the baseline of airport security. These measures are now in effect at Sacramento International Airport. Because of these requirements, Sacramento International Airport recommends that passengers arrive two hours prior to their departure time for domestic flights.
The new procedures require travelers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in separate bins with nothing else above or below for X-ray screening. Electronics larger than a cell phone include tablets, e-readers, and video game consoles.
There are no changes for what travelers can bring through the checkpoint. Food and liquid items that comply with the
3-1-1- liquids rule, cell phones and books are still allowed in carry-on bags.
The stronger security measures do not apply to passengers enrolled in TSA Pre✓® who are using TSA Pre✓® lanes.
Sacramento County Airport System, a department of Sacramento County, is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining four of the County’s airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field. The Airport System provides more than $4 billion in annual economic impact to the Sacramento region. For more information, visit sacramento.aero.
