Join Sacramento County and the Sacramento Tree Foundation on Saturday, Nov. 18, to kickoff the NeighborWoods initiative, from 9 a.m. – Noon, at
Cottage Park, 3097 Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA 95825. Beautiful shade trees will be planted throughout Cottage Park that will both enhance the natural beauty of the park and create cool, shady places for the community to enjoy. At this fun tree-planting event, meet your neighbors and share ideas for other tree projects in your community while having a celebratory lunch!
RSVP online to the Nov. 18 NeighborWoods Kickoff or call 916-974-4306 for more information.
The kickoff event is just the start of this ongoing partnership initiative to plant trees that will benefit the citizens of Sacramento County for generations to come. Neighborhoods with more trees have tighter-knit communities, higher property values, walkable streets with more activity, lower energy costs, and less pollution.
The NeighborWoods program is dedicated to guiding local residents on the benefits of trees to their homes and neighborhoods. Along with these efforts, the initiative identifies, cultivates and supports 10 NeighborWoods projects in under-resourced communities in the unincorporated County that will plant 250 trees. Additionally, with funding from PG&E, 90 oak trees will be planted over the next three years.
Trees throughout Sacramento County have been and will continue to be enduring assets for our future in creating park-like neighborhoods, increasing our quality of life and benefitting our environment. As Lucy quoted in the
March 3, 1963 Peanuts comic strip, “The planting of a tree shows faith in the future.”
Sacramento County collaborates with the Sacramento Tree Foundation and is a community benefit organization working to build healthy, livable communities in the Sacramento region by growing the best urban forest in the nation. Learn more about
