Rain and wind is predicted by the National Weather Service for the next few days. The Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services is monitoring the weather and coordinating with County departments and local agencies to monitor the situation.
“We anticipate Friday evening’s commute will be a bit rough with the forecasted rain,” said Steve Cantelme, Chief of Emergency Services for the County. “We’re expecting high winds and the street flooding that typically occurs with heavy rains, but not to the level that requires sandbags. Of course, if the situation changes, we’ll respond accordingly.”
Emergency Services asks that people take standard precautions for the rainy season:
Sweep leaves from gutters and clear drains
Secure patio and outside furniture and equipment
Make sure pets are able to stay warm and dry
Check on loved ones, especially those that may be housebound
Drive safely
The heavy rains are a great reminder to sign up to receive emergency alerts during major events such as flood, explosions or situations that might require neighborhood evacuation. It’s easy to sign up! Just visit www.sacoes.org and enter your email and/or phone numbers.
