Registration is now open for the 2014 Summer Camp, Kops-N-Kids. Partnering with Sacramento County Probation Department and other local, state and federal agencies, Kops-N-Kids is a volunteer-based program geared toward providing youth with a unique and fun learning experience by promoting positive choices, teamwork, confidence and integrity.
“Kops-N-Kids allows us to engage with the community and gives us an opportunity to create a positive relationship between youth and law enforcement,” said Lee Seale, Chief Probation Officer.
The camp is a week long day camp for 350 boys and girls between the ages of 8-12. Camp is scheduled for June 16-20 at Rosemont High School, and the total cost for the camp is only $32. The price includes food, transportation and the use of equipment and each camper receives a free t-shirt, water bottle, and backpack.
Campers may choose from football, volleyball, basketball, cycling, soccer, martial arts, tennis, Jr. Cadet, or dance and cheer as their featured camp activity. Campers will also learn the dangers of gang violence, drugs, and participate in violence prevention and gun avoidance activities.
There will be 70 coaches during the week-long camp, including 15 Sacramento County Probation Officers. Campers will also have the chance to meet with several state and federal agencies on Law Enforcement Day, only one of many chances to talk one-on-one with local law enforcement.
