Sacramento County is proud to be home to more than 89,000 veterans. Because accessing well-earned services can be challenging, staff in the Sacramento County Veterans Services, many who are veterans, encourage vets to come in to review available benefits ranging from waivers for college fees to home loans to insurance programs and more.
Sacramento County also participates in a statewide program that produces valid and recognized identification cards that convey discounts and special considerations. “The ID card and Drivers’ License designation have now become a widely recognized way to honor our veterans and make them easily identifiable,” says Gary Hawkins, Program Manager of the Veterans’ Services Office.
To obtain your ID card, bring in your DD-214. If you don’t have a copy of your DD-214, County Veterans Services can help you get it.
