Sacramento, Calif. – With flood waters receding and residents eager to return to their homes it is important for the public to be aware of the current situations surrounding the impacted communities.
Evacuation Advisories
- An evacuation advisory in still in place for the Glanville area bounded by Lambert, Franklin, Lost Slough and Snodgrass Slough, as a failure of this levee could lead to flooding within this area.
- Point Pleasant residents are encouraged to remain away from the area as many roads are still closed.
- Rio Linda and Wilton evacuation advisories have been lifted and residents are cleared to return to their homes.
Evacuation Centers
There are currently no evacuation centers open; however Red Cross is on standby should they be needed.
Road Closures
Residents should be aware of road closures and should not attempt to drive through water on the roads. Even water that looks shallow can stall or wash away a car or may hide additional dangers. Though some roads may no longer be flooded, flood water may have damaged roads; road inspections will ensure roads are safe and passable. Abandon Car Recovery
Individuals may recover their own vehicle with a personal property tow (hiring their own tow truck) and access their vehicle after water has receded. There are two reported vehicles on Lambert Rd. in the vicinity of Franklin Blvd. CHP is removing vehicles on Lambert that have been abandoned. If an individual believes their car has been towed, they may contact CHP Dispatch at (916) 861-1300 for information on the tow company that has their vehicle.
Floodwater-Contaminated Septic Systems, Water Wells and Small Water Systems
Some residences and businesses use private septic systems, water wells and other small water systems that can be contaminated by floodwater. If residents suspect that their septic, water well or small water system has been compromised by floodwater, it is important for health reasons that they take precautions, including: not using or drinking flood-contaminated well water, disinfecting the water well system with bleach, and not using the septic system until floodwater has drained lower than the tank. Returning Home After a Flood
