The Board of Supervisors, at its Jan. 15 meeting, concurred with the County Executive’s appointment of Liz Bellas as the Director of
Regional Parks, effective Jan. 20.
“Applications for this position were solicited nationwide,” says Rob Leonard, Deputy County Executive, Municipal Services. “Our search was extensive, and we are thrilled that we found the best candidate for this position among our own ranks.”
Bellas has more than 25 years of experience working in Parks , most of which has been with Sacramento County.
Her career in Parks began in 1992 working for the City of Napa. In 1997, she graduated from Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration. Upon graduation, and before joining the County in 1998, she worked for the Elk Grove Community Services District, now known as the Cosumnes Community Services District.
Throughout her tenure with the County, Liz has worked as a recreation specialist; community outreach coordinator; administrative services officer; and, most recently, deputy director of Regional Parks. She has experience in all aspects of Parks and Recreation, from special events and facility rentals to budgeting to managing the day to day operations of the department and serving as the lead manager in the development of a Natural Resources Management Plan for the American River Parkway.
