As reported in the local news, there has been a wave of attacks on members of the Asian American community, particularly in South Sacramento. Members of the community have reached out for help from the County and City of Sacramento.
On October 19, there will be two public safety sessions at George Sims Community Center, translated into six languages:
- Hmong
- Mien
- Mandarin
- Cantonese
- Vietnamese
- Spanish
Attendees will learn from law enforcement representatives how best to protect themselves against crime and, if a crime does occur, how to report it (it is critical to report all crimes to law enforcement).
- When: October 19, 2016
- Where: 6207 Logan Street in George Sims Community Center, near 65th Street and Lemon Hill Avenue
- Session 1: 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm (Vietnamese, Hmong, Mien)
- Session 2: 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm (Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish)
Both law enforcement agencies have been very responsive, and occurrences are on the decline.
Supervisor Kennedy is working with Council Member Eric Guerra, along with members of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and the Sacramento City Police Department, and the community to prevent further attacks.
