Join a Sacramento County effort to clean-up and beautify our creeks, April 21-29! During Creek Week, all ages will have the opportunity to appreciate, explore, learn and work to protect our local creeks and aquatic life. There will be plenty of fun and educational activities for the whole family to enjoy!
On April 21, the activities start with the Creek Week Splash-Off to thank the 2017 sponsors and supporters at Sutter's Landing Park at 20 28th Street in Sacramento. The event will acknowledge the 2017 Creek Steward award being given to Friends of the River Bank. Keynote speaker will be Assemblyman Kevin McCarty.
There will be educational events and activities all week throughout Sacramento County, but “The Big Day” is Saturday, April 29 – Clean Up Day!
On April 29, volunteers are needed for 11 locations in the County.
- First we clean! The morning is devoted to removing trash and debris in and along our neighborhood creeks.
- Then we celebrate! From noon to 2 p.m., at Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Avenue, there will be exhibits, fun activities and contests! Entertainment will be provided by Red Shoe Entertainment. Volunteers will also enjoy a free lunch and t-shirt.
