The Farm-to-Fork festival is celebrating its fourth year and 2016’s event is expected to be the best yet. Sacramento holds the title of the Farm-To-Fork Capital of America for incorporating local agriculture and farmland into its local cuisine and culture. The free festival will take place at Downtown Sacramento’s Capitol Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24.
This festival is designed to showcase and celebrate where our food and drinks come from. The Farm-to-Fork Festival brings us face-to-face with the people who are feeding our region and the world. Each vendor participating in the festival will focus on the farm-to-fork philosophy by promoting locally grown products.
Look for the Monster Mural, sponsored by Sacramento County Economic Development and Marketing, and try your hand at coloring in the lines! The mural is a great activity for festival goers of all ages. Also, look for the Sacramento County booth, hosted by the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office.
“Farm-to-Fork has grown into a movement that is being recognized all over the country,” said Troy Givans, Director of Economic Development and Marketing. “This event is a great way to showcase the culinary talent that Sacramento County holds.”
Attractions at the festival include produce, meat, fish, wine, craft beer, cheese and olive oil. There will be five live cooking demonstration stages, a kids zone and more than 100 vendor booths!
