Sacramento summers are hot hot hot! Not only can it be uncomfortable for you, but your furry friends feel it to. Cats and dogs do not sweat, so it is important to take measures to keep them cool during the high temperatures.
Here are a few tips to beat the heat for your pets this summer:
Never leave your dog in a parked car: Even cracking a window won’t protect your pets. It is against the law in California and could be punishable by a fine. Even when the temperatures are in the 80’s and 90’s, it is still dangerous for a pet in the car.

Avoid extreme heat: When temperatures get above the 90s, take your pet inside. For outdoor pets, be sure to provide them with plenty of fresh, cold water in a tip-proof water dish and shade for them to cool down.
Don’t exercise with your pets when it is too hot: Older and certain long-haired dogs can be particularly susceptible to heat, and hot asphalt can burn their paws. Exercise in the early morning or evenings and make sure both of you have plenty of water.
Doggie Playdates: If you are gone long hours in hot weather and your pup cannot stay inside, consider taking them to a family member or friend's house. Or, if finances allow, take them to doggie daycare. Not only will it keep them out of the heat, they’ll get their exercise as well! Check out this list of
