Following a Closed Session Board meeting today, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to appoint Interim County Executive Nav Gill as CEO.
“Mr. Gill has been the Assistant County Executive/ Chief Operating Officer since 2007. He’s been instrumental in maintaining steady leadership through several changes of CEOs and the economic downturn of 2009,” said Board Chair Roberta MacGlashan, Supervisor for District 4. “He’s seen us through good times and bad, has built solid internal and external relationships, and has proven he is ready to take the lead. We look forward to working with him as he helps steer our organization into the future.”
“Nav has consistently and repeatedly handled difficult decisions with sensible efficiency,” MacGlashan added. “This includes complex labor and fiscal issues and critical regional partnerships. He’s thorough, analytical and fair and will serve the region well.”
About Nav Gill:
Mr. Gill came to Sacramento County with a distinguished career in municipal government. He started his public sector career in 1988 in the City of Durham, North Carolina and served in a variety of senior financial positions including Finance Director.
In 2002, he became the City of Folsom’s Finance Director and later promoted to Assistant City Manager. During his Folsom tenure, he oversaw the finance, public works and utilities departments and improved accountability of city operations.
He joined the County in August 2007 as the Assistant County Executive and has been instrumental in reshaping County operations to meet the challenges of changing economic conditions while continuing to deliver efficient and effective services to the residents and businesses of Sacramento County.
Gill holds a Master of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri.
