The 2019 Aftershock Music Festival kicks off today at
Discovery Park, and with it comes some exciting news about next year’s event: Metallica is headlining!
“Events like Aftershock draw people from all over the country and help us showcase the amazing amenities of the
Sacramento County Regional Parks system,” said Liz Bellas, Director of Regional Parks. “We’re excited to see the number of people who show up for Metallica next year.”
Discovery Park has been the home of this growing music festival since 2012. This annual event, which has been so successful it has grown from a one-day festival in 2012 to a three-day festival in 2019, brings tens of thousands of people to Sacramento County.
“Discovery Park has been an outstanding venue for the Aftershock music festival since 2012, and we’re pleased to continue the tradition of hosting great bands, including headliner Metallica during the 2020 season,” said District 1 Supervisor Phil Serna. “As the caliber of acts continues to grow, it gives Sacramento County even more opportunity to showcase one of our best known regional parks, in one of our country’s great Parkways.”
Since expanding to a three-day festival in 2019, ticket sales have skyrocketed, and it is estimated that more than two-thirds of Aftershock attendees come from outside the Sacramento Region.
