The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District will conduct aerial spraying to control mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus over parts of Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks and Orangevale.
The spraying will begin Wednesday July 16 and continue on Thursday, July 17, from approximately 8:00 pm to midnight.
“The effects of West Nile Virus can range from a mild fever to permanent disability to death, in some cases. It is important to do what we can to reduce the number of human infections and to prevent people from suffering from this disease,” said Dr. Olivia Kasirye, Sacramento County Public Health Officer.
“Our top priority is protecting residents from mosquitoes and West Nile virus, and the aerial treatments will reduce the number of infected mosquitoes that can pose a threat,” said Gary Goodman District Manager.
