Eligible projects must be implemented within the Storm Water Utility boundary of Sacramento County and/or directly affect the residents of these areas. A map showing eligible areas can be found on the
Department of Water Resources website.
Applicants are encouraged to submit ideas for protecting, restoring or enhancing creeks, riparian corridors, watersheds, and rivers within the unincorporated urban areas of Sacramento County. Previous awards include the Hands in the River Program from the Sierra Nevada Journey program,
pictured here. Students learned how to assess water quality and the importance of keeping our local waterways clean.
DWR will offer up to $2,500 for each project chosen for the grant. The amount will depend on the needs of the organization. Projects like these are not only a great educational tool, but can also be a wonderful team-building opportunity.
The final date to apply is July 1, 2019. For more information, applicants can review the application to determine if projects are eligible on the Stormwater Quality Program page.
