The Board of Supervisors authorized the appointment of Keith Goodrich, today, as Director of the
Department of Waste Management and Recycling (DWMR). Goodrich has been the Interim Director since August 2022 with the retirement of the previous director.
“Mr. Goodrich is a fantastic leader and we are fortunate to have someone so highly qualified within our ranks," said Deputy County Executive, Dave Defanti. "I sincerely look forward to continuing our work in his new capacity as Director focusing on staff development, workforce culture, and leading the DWMR team with strategic planning and implementation of waste and recycling programs."
As a registered civil engineer, Mr. Goodrich has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and has over 35 years of experience as a civil engineer practicing in solid waste management. Of those years, 27 have been with County Waste Management and Recycling.
As the director, he will be responsible for overseeing the operation and management of solid waste and recycling services in unincorporated Sacramento County. This includes disposal services for the Sacramento region; residential waste, recycling, and organics collection services for the unincorporated County; and administering the franchise system of commercial waste, recycling, and organics collection for the unincorporated County.
While addressing the Board of Supervisors, Goodrich said, "This is an exciting time for the department as we implement sustainability initiatives. I am grateful for the amazingly dedicated staff of this department and the outstanding customer service they provide each and every day in the community."
Goodrich, also said, that he looks forward to leading the priorities of the department for employee development, environmental stewardship, continued excellence in customer service and comprehensive safety programs within its operations.
The appointment of Keith Goodrich as Sacramento County Department of Waste Management and Recycling Director will be effective on March 12, 2023.
