In partnership with First Step Communities, based on predictions from the National Weather Service, DHSH will extend its hot weather activation at the North A Shelter located at 1400 North A street through Sunday, Aug. 9 from 1 – 8 p.m. daily.
Participants can expect a cool, safe space to get respite from the heat, charge their devices, use the restroom and receive a meal. Light case management is also available.
Interested parties should call 2-1-1 before traveling to the respite center to check the capacity. The 2-1-1 Sacramento website also has a map of cooling spaces.
County staff will continue to track the weather, in partnership with the National Weather Service to determine if any extensions are needed to this activation. Updates will be posted here if any changes are made.
