Ancil Hoffman Park will temporarily close for up to two months beginning May 28, 2025, as Sacramento County Regional Parks repairs, repaves and restripes the roads and parking lots to ensure compliance with state and federal accessibility standards.

While the park will be closed to general vehicle traffic during construction, access to the Ancil Hoffman Golf Course and scheduled events at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, including NatureFest on June 8, will remain available. Limited parking will be designated specifically for golf activities and Nature Center programming throughout June and visitors are urged to use caution while in the park as it will be an active construction site. Full vehicle access to the park is expected to resume by July, once all parking areas are restored.

“We understand that this closure may be an inconvenience to residents who love Ancil Hoffman Park, but these much-needed updates are essential for long-term access and safety,” said Liz Bellas, Director of Regional Parks. “We’re excited to enhance the visitor experience and encourage residents to explore one of the many other beautiful parks along the American River Parkway during this time.”

In addition to road and parking lot upgrades, the County will install new planting basins with root barriers to prevent future damage to paved areas. These basins will be planted with native shade trees to enhance the park's natural environment and sustainability.
