Walnut Grove Bridge, crossing the Sacramento River south of the historic town of Walnut Grove, is undergoing urgent repairs that require full closure of the bridge from March 22-26, 2016. Repairs include replacement of bridge locking mechanisms that secure the two sides of the bridge together when open to vehicular traffic.  No vehicles will be allowed on the bridge during the closure period.  However, the pedestrian walkway on the North side of the bridge will be available for pedestrian traffic during the closure.

Details:
  • Closure Start - Tuesday, March 22 at 12 p.m. (noon): The bridge will be closed to all vehicles at this time. Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) crews will start work immediately to remove the old locking mechanisms.  It is anticipated that new part fabrication will take 3 to 4 days.  Sacramento County Department of Transportation crews will install the new components as soon as they are completed.
  • Closure End - Saturday, March 26 at 6 p.m.:  We anticipate that the bridge will be reopened to the public at this date & time.
Detours: Due to the bridge closure, motorists will need to detour north on Hwy 160 to Paintersville Bridge in Courtland or south on River Road to the Georgina Slough Bridge and Isleton Bridge. (Map below)
