Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter is proud to announce a new partnership with the City of Citrus Heights to provide comprehensive animal services to the local community. This agreement will offer Citrus Heights residents’ access to a wide array of animal services, including shelter resources, 24/7 customer support through 311 Connect, a full-service on-site pet hospital for sheltered animals, and a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
The partnership officially began on Sept. 1, 2024, following the conclusion of Citrus Heights’ contract with Placer County on Aug. 31, 2024. The agreement with Sacramento County is set for five years, with an option for renewal. Through this collaboration, Sacramento County will provide enhanced support, expanding the reach of its animal programs while improving access to animal services for Citrus Heights residents.
In addition to shelter services, the partnership offers dedicated call and dispatch services through Sacramento County's 311 Connect, allowing residents to report animal-related concerns 24/7. Bradshaw Animal Shelter will also support the work of Citrus Heights’ Animal Services Officers by providing additional resources for the care and welfare of animals in need.
"We are excited to partner with the City of Citrus Heights to extend our services to more pets and their families,” said Annette Bedsworth, Director of Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter. "This partnership reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that all animals receive the care, support, and compassion they deserve. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of animals in Citrus Heights."
Citrus Heights Police Department Chief Alex Turcotte echoed this sentiment, stating, "Our community is dedicated to the well-being of local pets. With Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter, we will be able to enhance the level of care and service provided to our residents and their animals."
