For the first time ever, NO-COST SPAY AND NEUTER SERVICES are being offered for a limited time for animals throughout the entire Sacramento County area! Sacramento County is sponsoring the Animal Spay and Neuter clinics’ program, Spay It Forward to bring no-cost spay and neuter services to both the incorporated or unincorporated areas of Sacramento County.

Services will be provided by:

  1. The Animal Spay and Neuter clinic (ASN), a nonprofit hi-volume animal spay/neuter clinic which is next to the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento as well as an Auburn location and will focus on cats - owned or feral.
  2. The BAAT Mobile that brings services directly to high traffic neighborhoods and is operated by the Bradshaw Animal Assistance Team program.

“By making no-cost options available to all of Sacramento County area residents, I believe we can spay or neuter well over 2,000 animals in 2015 with these new funds,” said Dave Dickinson, Director of the Department of Animal Care and Regulation. “Through ASN's Spay If Forward and the County's BAAT Mobile, it will help address unwanted litters, lost or stray animals coming into the shelter, reduce euthanasia rates, and help folks who want to do the right thing but are a little strapped for cash.”

The first phase will focus on owned and feral cats, and was kicked off with $100,000 in County funds, along with a contribution of $7,500 from Friends of the Sacramento City Shelter Animals; and $2,500 each from LAPCATS and T.E.A.M. – a Bradshaw Shelter affiliate.

Make an Appointment for Your Cat at an ASN Clinic:

Surgeries are available at both clinic locations; one located next to the County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter at 3839 Bradshaw Road, and the other in Auburn at 3524 KOA Way.  Surgeries are by appointment only and the schedule will fill up quickly!

  • To make spay or neuter surgery appointment, call the Sacramento ASN at 916-368-7314 or 530-889-8800 for the Auburn ASN location.

Although not required, all spay and neuter donations are gratefully accepted and will also help the ASN program to continue.

Community Locations and Dates for Spay/Neuter Services with the BAAT Mobile (Mobile Outreach Trailer):

The BAAT Mobile will bring no-cost spay/neuter services for cats and dogs to specific neighborhoods in 2015. Check the BAAT Mobile web page for upcoming dates and locations.  The BAAT mobile is coordinated with the help of the Bradshaw Animal Assistance Team that consists of veterinarians and vet techs for surgeries, kennel and admin staff, and our vital ACR volunteers.

For more information, visit the Animal care website or call the numbers listed above.  Providing no-cost spay/neuter surgeries supports the vision of the Sacramento County Department of Animal Care and Regulation, which is to lead with innovative and progressive practices to increase live-release rates and improve quality of life for animals and people in our communities.
