Today is every pet’s favorite holiday, National Pet Day! While most pet owners take great care of their pets every day, National Pet Day is a great opportunity to think about what can be done to make your fur friend’s life even better. National Pet Day can even be celebrated by those who don’t own pets.

Don’t believe us? Here are our tips for celebrating National Pet Day.

Individuals with pets
  • Make sure your home is free of pet hazards. For a list of common household hazards, check out the American Veterinary Medical Association’s website.
  • Make sure your pet is healthy. Bradshaw Animal Shelter offers rabies vaccination and microchip clinics every month and low-cost spay and neuter services are available throughout the area.
  • Consider adopting another pet if your household/current pet allow it.

Individuals who would like a pet
  • Adopt one from Bradshaw Animal Shelter, where adoptions are currently $25! Choose from cats, dogs and more!

Individuals who can’t have a pet
  • Volunteer at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter.
  • Consider donating to the Bradshaw Animal Shelter or Pet owners in need.
  • Be on the lookout for and report acts of animal abuse.

Whether you’re a pet owner or not, there are many ways to celebrate National Pet Day. However you choose, be sure to share your favorite photos of your favorite fur friends with the Bradshaw Animal Shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
