Connect with more than 60 government and public agency buyers and small business resource organizations at The 2014 Connecting Point event Wednesday, November 19, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, hosted by Sacramento County, in association with the Sacramento Public Agency Consortium (SacPAC). The Connecting Point is the largest event of its kind in California. Bringing together buyers, procurement officers and small business advocates for many federal, state and local government agencies, as well as publicly supported utility districts and mass transit agencies, The Connecting Point offers small businesses unique access to the millions of dollars in government procurement and contracting. Some topic discussions at this event include: Tips and strategies on the eProcurement process; The Do’s and Don’ts When Bidding with the Government. Admission and parking are free of charge. For more information about this event, visit the SacPac website.

Did you know that Sacramento County provides incentives to micro and local businesses? Every year the county spends more than $150 million in goods and services and much of that is with local businesses. With more than 40 departments and special districts, Sacramento County uses virtually any imaginable product or service. The County's goal is to support local businesses because it improves the economy, sustains jobs and creates revenue to maintain essential services for children, seniors and public safety.

So what are some incentives in doing business with Sacramento County?

The County offers a local price or point preference credit of 5% to Local Business Enterprises on supply and non-professional service contracts of less than one million dollars to business enterprises located within Sacramento County when evaluating bids for material, supply, construction supplies, and/or non-professional services acquisitions.

The County also offers a 2% price preference to formally certified micro-business who are located in the Sacramento Regional Market Area (Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba Counties).

To learn more about the requirements or to determine if your business is qualified, visit Sacramento County’s “Doing Business with the County” information page. In addition, Sacramento County provides training to businesses on a whole spectrum of business topics that help local and small businesses. Visit the workshop calendar.
