An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is a critical component of local government response to large scale emergencies and disasters. With the remodel completed, the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services (SacOES) has economized its EOC located at McClellan Park.

When disaster strikes, the facility has roughly 7,500 square feet of space for EOC staff to alert and notify appropriate agencies and to coordinate all agencies that respond, as well as ensuring resources are available and mobilized in times of disaster. SacOES also develops plans and procedures in response to and recovery from disasters, and develops and provides public preparedness materials.

The features of the EOC remodel and technology upgrades include:

  • Workstations, large video screen and TV monitors
  • Joint Information Center space with workstations
  • Planning/Conference Room with workstations and video conferencing capabilities
  • Conference/Break-Out Room with workstations
  • Classroom/Expansion Room with seating for 48; can expanded to main floor when needed
  • Secure Building requires check-in at the entry gates and at the security station in the entryway.
  • Web EOC: A state-of-the art emergency communication system that allows for secure inter-agency email, document transfer and situation documentation during an emergency event.
  • Sacramento Emergency Alert Notification System (www.sacramento-alert.org): EOC is able to send residents information on any communication path desired – cell phone, home phone, email, text messaging, fax, pager, PDA and more – to receive life-saving emergency information and important public service announcements in minutes.
