The Board of Supervisors, at its April 20 meeting, concurred with the Interim County Executive’s appointment of Amanda Thomas as Chief Fiscal Officer effective May 17.
“Ms. Thomas has extensive experience in public finance in both private and public sectors, and has served in high-level management and executive roles, including several years of service to the County,” said Ann Edwards, Interim County Executive. “Her experience will serve the people of Sacramento County well, and we look forward to welcoming her to the County team in May.”
Thomas is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, a job she has held since 2015.
Prior to her current role, Thomas worked for the Sacramento County Department of Airports for approximately nine years. As the Deputy Director of Airport Finance and Administration, she led a team of 30 employees and was responsible for the financial, business, marketing and administrative functions for a system of four airports.
Thomas also led the financing plan for the Sacramento County International Airport’s $1 billion terminal modernization program, which resulted in the construction of Terminal B.
In addition, she has worked as a consultant for private sector agencies.
Thomas has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Stanford University.
