The Board of Supervisors, at its Sept. 13 meeting, concurred with the County Executive’s appointment of Troy Givans as Director of Community Development, effective Sept. 25.
Givans began his career with the County in 1991. He served as a Planner, Senior Planner, and Principal Planner for multiple Community Services Agency departments prior to his appointment as the Economic Development Director, a position he has held since 2013.
“We are exceedingly fortunate that the best candidate for the position was Troy Givans, whose dedication to the County, outstanding work and established relationships with community and industry leaders is top notch,” said Dave Defanti, Deputy County Executive for Community Services.
Givans has extensive experience directing activities to support the development and completion of a wide variety of projects that require the collaboration of multiple County officials and external stakeholders, including Master Planned Communities and high-profile commercial and industrial development initiatives. Having served as a Director of Economic Development for the past decade, he has broad administrative management experience.
Givans has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Urban Planning from California State University, Chico and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
