The Sacramento County Office of Economic Development's Business Environmental Resource Center will recognize local businesses advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship during the Sustainable Business Awards and Resource Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mack Powell Event Center in Sacramento.

This sponsor-supported event is offered free of charge to the Sacramento County community. Advanced registration is required as space is limited. Complimentary appetizers will be provided.

"The businesses we're recognizing are showing that sustainability isn't just good for the environment, it's good for business," said Crystal Bethke, Director of County's Office of Economic Development. "One of the best parts of this event is seeing businesses share ideas that others can take back to their own operations. We hope this event inspires more businesses to explore what's possible and connects them with the people and resources to get started."

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local businesses, business support organizations, explore resources available to businesses, network with environmental leaders and discover innovative sustainability efforts taking place throughout the County. The program portion of the event will feature an awards ceremony where businesses certified through County's Sustainable Business Program are highlighted.

The Sustainable Business Program is supported by County departments and regional partners, including Building Permits and Inspection, Airports, Environmental Management, Planning and Environmental Review, Waste Management and Recycling, Water Resources, Sacramento Area Sewer District, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).
