Sacramento County is working to create a community where people of all ages and abilities can live, thrive and remain connected. Since the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors adopted the Local Aging & Disability Action Plan (LADAP) in February 2025, the County and its community partners have taken actionable steps toward implementing the plan.
This plan aligns with the five bold goals of California’s Master Plan for Aging:
- Housing for All Stages & Ages – Ensuring accessible and affordable housing options for residents of all ages.
- Health Reimagined – Expanding healthcare access and wellness programs tailored to older and disabled adults.
- Inclusion & Equity, Not Isolation – Fostering community connections and reducing social isolation.
- Caregiving That Works – Strengthening support for caregivers and long-term care services.
- Affording Aging – Addressing economic challenges that impact aging residents.
The Action Committee met five times in 2025, while four workgroups met each month. Committee members include people from local organizations and those who have experienced what it’s like to struggle with a lack of accessible resources.
“People with disabilities are often overlooked in these discussions, and working together helps us identify gaps and create more inclusive support systems,” said Action Committee member Brandi Bluel of Resources for Independent Living.
Looking Ahead
In 2026, Sacramento County plans to launch a public Progress Data Dashboard. This tool will allow residents to see how work is moving forward across the LADAP workgroups.
LADAP is more than a plan. It is a community effort to help people age with dignity, live as independently as possible, and stay connected to their communities.
